for those who are nothing but natural disasters.

for those who sink somewhere between electric blue oceans and shimmering rainbows of euphoria.

for those whose insanity makes poetry - and those whose poetry drives them insane.

for those who are weighed down by gravity.

for those who have found equilibria in a heart that is caught in a chain reaction of passionate apathy.

i am from the world that ends in fire and ice.

i am from light and darkness, volcano and ash, living and dead. i am from all the words i've left unsaid, from the silence that speaks louder than the path i tread. i am from the poetry that i refuse to write, from the spaces between phrases that never turn out right.

i am from the one a.m. phone ringing, from "i love you, be okay." i am from the lungs that keep breathing, the heart that keeps beating as the ropes begin to fray.

i am from the earthquakes that pull california to the sea, from the arizona shore burning back at me. i am from a place i call home but have never truly known, from inside of the cage where my childhood played but never truly stayed.

i am from a tripping rhythm of self-expression, from quiet hunger and manic depression, in constant digression and possession and obsession and repression.

i am from electric oceans, oceans and oceans and oceans, repetition and repetition, the same words that spill over from my mind each and every time i write in a blistered rhyme that just won't keep in time.

i am from the elusive quiet mind that just won't come tonight.

they will set fire to this body,
but it will not burn,

for there is something
brighter and more lovely
than the ashes of my bones,

and tonight,
those words are written
in the hand of the dipper,
      the face of the lion,
            the tail of the scorpion,
strapped to the ceiling
above a shattering planet.

but when skies turn to oceans
and oceans to skies,
and Venus ignites
in the hills of God's eyes,
will i open my mind
to the very blood of life?

because someday
lightning will flicker across my skin
and rain will stream from my lips,
and the east will crack and blister
      away from the west,
and the ocean will give way
      to fire and earth
      and love and loss,

for there is nothing greater
than the bow of the hunter.

There are oceans of opportunity out there, they say.

But I never learned to swim, she says. And I’m already drowning.

She sits cross-legged in the overgrown grass, smoothing her black sundress over her thighs (over and over again) and flicking the ashes off the end of her cigarette (over and over again). They watch her through sideways glances.

I don’t smoke, she reassures them, exhaling one last time and grinding the butt of the cigarette into the dirt. They nod and offer her another. Without hesitation, she takes it and lights it up.

Classic Rock, Rain, and LiteraturePersonal
Got a sudden burst of Fall-like weather this afternoon, so here's a fitting skin. A rain shower came out of nowhere and was gone before I could even post a Facebook update about how odd it was. It was one of those sunny rain showers too, the kind that make you wonder where the hell all this water is coming from. Temperature has dropped quite a bit, though I still need to have a fan going in my room because my air circulation is weird and no one can figure out why my room is the only one that turns into a sauna during the summer.
I've been done with classes since Tuesday which is a lovely relief. I have two Finals next week, but I'm not terribly worried about them. I've been using the time to catch up on the #Glory-Be-Project a little bit, though in practice all I've really been doing is updating Conversations with Doc. I was up there Wednesday to Classic Rock, Rain, and Literature by =SilverInkblot

I'll meet you again in ten years. My hair will be longer and darker (the way you always liked it) and yours will be falling across your eyes the way it was when I kissed you goodbye. You'll have a days worth of stubble on your cheeks, and we'll collide in a bakery in New York City with our college degrees in our back pockets, rushing toward offices in opposite directions. You'll be drinking coffee and I'll be drinking tea, and I'll have a scarf slipping loose around my neck to catch the snowflakes drifting down. life updates:

i am now halfway done with my undergraduate college experience. (and i have maintained straight A's. i'm so confused.)

my life is awesome and my brain is stable and i feel better than i have in the history of the whole entire universe.

it's been really hard to write because of all the reasons. and because most of what i've been writing for over a year now have been love poems. (but any kind of poem can be a love poem by the very nature of the fact that you love something enough to write about it, right?)

but yeah, it's summer. i'm going to go on adventures and take pictures and write things and do my thang.

i hope all of you have been doing well. sorry for not keeping up to date on here. :heart:

Hey, I'm actually a fan of yours. I've read all your poems and actually i find my own feelings in all of them. Thank you. In a way you've helped me go through one of my worst breakdowns in my life.
